Winter Blahs

Since it is the middle of winter we haven't been very busy. We mostly stay indoors trying to find things to keep us busy. This winter we have cleaned out our bedroom closet, moved the playroom, made arts and crafts projects, and decorated plenty of sugar cookies. Lately, we have been renting movies so we can try to keep up on pop/movie culture. Last weekend, I took the girls to Jackson to see my parents. Sydney got a hair cut from my mom which was needed. I was so tired of fighting with her to comb it or take care of it. She is at the stage where she doesn't want it pulled back but then gets food in it. Which in turn gives her tangles which leads to tears. My mom said she cut off up to 4 inches of hair in the front. It is super cute!
Other things that have been going on..............
Sydney just offically moved up to another room at daycare. She is now in the Red Room which is ages 2 1/2 to 3 years old. This is what they call the "pre pre-school room" which helps them get ready for pre-school. The routine is much like pre-school. At first, Sydney had a hard time with the transition. She gets extremely attached to her teachers and didn't want to leave her old room. There were some tears involved and the transition wasn't going so well. Daycare was running out on ideas. Doug and I started a goodie basket at home. We told her if she had a day with no tears she could get something out of the basket. The basket contained little toys and candy from the dollar store. It worked really well and now she loves the red room. She doesn't even ask about the basket anymore which is great for us! She shouldn't get rewards all the time for doing something she is supposed to be doing. I'll admit it sure did help!
Sophia has been spending time in the wobbler room now that she is crawling. She is still in the infant room but they will take her when they have room. She started crawling at the beginning of January. I love her crawl because it is more like an army crawl. Now she is getting into everything and crawling everywhere. She loves crawling into Sydney's room. Sophia is a great eater! She takes a 6 ounce bottle when she wakes up. Once she arrives at daycare she will eat 1 jar of food, cereal, and another bottle. She gets another bottle mid-morning. At lunch time she will eat 1 to 2 jars of food and then will take another bottle later in the afternoon. At dinner time she will eat 1 to 2 jars of food and then will take another bottle later in the evening. Sometimes she will take a small bottle right before bed. Sophia continues to be a great sleeper. Her bedtime is between 7 and 7:30. She sleeps straight through the night and wakes up around 6:30. She doesn't have any teeth yet. She has a huge bump on her bottom gum line but nothing yet. It is just a matter of time. Her hair is growing fast and is still brown. Sophia is getting baptized next weekend on Valentine's day.
Last Tuesday was Groundhog Day in which he saw his shadow. That means 6 more weeks of winter. Blah!

We have been staying inside most of the winter as well. I can't wait for spring!
